is it safe to mount any corals to the shells of live oysters? im asking because the left half of my rock is pretty much covered in them :p the other side has siderastrea on one rock, and a bunch of cladacora on the other, so im running out of places to mount stuff!

so is mounting on oysters a bad idea?

It's perfectly fine. I'd be a bit cautious about attaching to clams, as the clams have been known to detach & move about in the tank, but the oysters, once attached, stay attached.

I'd be cautious about the coral eventually overgrowing the oyster too.

my clams are covered in coral. give them a nice disguise. you think you're looking @ a rock, then all of a sudden it opens up.

Not to sound like a murderer, but you can pop those things off with a screwdriver if you need the space.
One of my TBS rocks had just a few too many bivalves, so I thinned the herd a bit.

You can do this, but be careful not to injure the foot, it will re-attach and be OK!
