About to do freshwater dip - Help please

I have never done a freshwater dip in my life.

Do I just suddenly place the fish in freshwater, or does this fish need acclimation to the freshwater?

What about after the freshwater dip? Does it have to be acclimated to the hospital tank water?

What SG should the QT tank be?

Thanks!

- Chris

P.S. I was told in this forum to use Copper in the QT and to give the blue tang a freshwater dip for five minutes. I might have a case of Marine Velvet.

That's not a great sign .... while some people are fans of FW dips I have found that many of the more sensitive fish like tangs don't do well with the FW dips. Why did you give the fish a FW dip (what are you trying to treat)?

Edit: sorry .. re-read your original post and see your reference to marine velvet/copper/fwdip.

FW dips are really not considered a cure for amylo .. some will recommend as a method to determine whether your fish has brooklynella vs amylo. This is often referred to as Oamas FW dip test on this forum .. strictly to determine which of these deadly diseases your dealing with and sometimes worth the risk since the treatments for Brook and Amylo are so different.

Sorry for your problems.
