About to order 240 long glass, moving question.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an 8x2x2 glass tank, and I can get a wooden mockup into the basement. It's a straight shot from the garage with one 90 degree turn on the basement stairs. But a 2x4 mockup is not a glass tank.

This thing should weigh close to 400lbs empty right?

How many guys should I ask for help from would you think?

As it's 2' wide, people can't be supporting the middle of the tank on the sides coming down the stairs easily or going through doors. Will it be a problem to only support each end of a 8' tank for a few feet?

I've been told I can stand it up on end momentarily to get it around the angle, but even that scares me.

Any moving advice for a 240 long?

Three of us moved a 265. We were hurting afterward, but we were safe.

I would recommend at least 6 people, 8 - 10 would be better just so you can pass off on that turn and on the steps.

Rent some glass suction cups.

Thanks! I was thinking 5ish people, but we've got a big club here in Chicagoland so I'm hoping some more might be willing to be handy.

Where would the glass suction cups go, and how many? The 8' sides?

Some moving companies have them for rent.

Any side that needs a good hand hold. I would get 4-6. One for each side and two more for suction problems or a helping hand on one of the 8' sides.
