When I initially fill up my tank I'm thinking of running a long piece of 1/4 drip tubing from my RO unit (because I have tons of it). Is it safe to use that?
I don't see how it would be unsafe. I have used ABS plastic in several tanks (Custom Drilled and made overflows, for example). I have never seen any ill effects from its use.
It was an old myth because it's used for waste pipe and not pressure rated for potable water. It leaches nothing into salt water. Powerheads and most other submersible plastic parts on heaters, pumps, etc., are ABS.
