Just wanted to get everyone's consensus and thoughts on what I should try and do in this situation:
I recently got a nice 5-6 head frag of acan about a week ago from someone here on RC. The frag is doing great and all the heads are putting out feeder tentacles and puffing up nicely already. The frag itself is in the shape of a piece of pizza (although not that big of course
). Last night I was trying to see the back side of the frag and I noticed there were two bubbles of bubble algae on the bag side. :mad2:
Needless to say that I would like to remedy and cure this problem immediately and take care of business :uzi: I know not all algae is bad but this is not something I want lingering around.
My question is what do you all suggest I try? I read an article on Reef Keeping so i know that there are a couple of options: reducing nutrients (I already run phosban and carbon), get a mithrax crab (I'm scared for my corals though), or take it out and try and scrape it off the frag (might be the option I'm looking to do).
So what do you think? I'm thinking that taking the frag out now and trying to scrape off the bubbles at the root might be the best idea. How successful is this and what method should I use? Should I pop the bubble and let it drain into the sink and then try and scrape underneath the bubbles or leave them intact?
I would like to do this this evening so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to nip this in the bud before they spread.
