acan colony for sale

i have had this colony for over a year now....i had it in the frag tank for most of that cuz when i tryed to put it on the 125 it started to melt. i thought the light was to much for it on the bottom...so down to the frag tank...it did realy well there....well since i set up the 150xt i tryed to put it up there again.....no luck...with in 2 weeks it started to wilt again....so again to the frag tank....here it is today...looking nice and healthy under a 175w 15k halide in about 12" of water....i really dont know why it started to wilt two times on me in a display tank even if they had the same water....i dont want to keep him in this size in a frag tank for the rest of its live....it needs to be in a display!!! its a great size..second pic of it is in my hand to show size... first pic is through the glass (little fuzzy)

my asking price for this beautiful acan colony is $150...I WILL NOT FRAG THIS!! SO PLEASE DONT ASK.local pick up from kaukauna, wi also please.

That's really odd that that happens Dave. Is the frag tank plumbed into the same water column as the DT or are they entirely separate systems??

now they are separate...be for it was the same....the only difference i could point to is the radium bulbs..the bulb they are under now was in the 125 in the center and the radiums on the out sides....they still shined some light on it...first time this happened i put it on the frag tank and the next day it was perfect again...this time i had it in a shaded area and still it started to wilt after a week or so.

it sucks though i was hopping so bad that i could keep it in the dt this time...its a sweet coral, but if i cant keep it in the dt at all...i dont even want to frag it..i only keep coral that i can put in my dt..i try to keep spares down stairs for just incases...

so far acans have not be good under the radiums for me...and i dont know why...i know the radiums put out some funky light though...heck..i dont even run atinics! ask bri guy what my tank looks like..he was in aaawweee!

I'm assuming you keep the water params the same in the two systems, but I'll ask anyway out of curiosity. What is the alk level in each system??

I run radiums also but I run them on HQI ballasts which makes them burn a bit whiter. I can't imagine radiums melt acans or we would have heard more about this sort of occurrence. Coincidently, I've had issues with my acans lately. As I ran the zeo system I kept the alk at 7 dkh. I've stopped all means of bacterial proliferation for over four months and lately I've been experimenting with increasing my alk level to increase SPS growth. Once I get my alk level at 7.5 dkh or above my acans shrivel and begin losing tissue.

Just curious to see if there is any difference in alk levels in your two systems and if that might be the cause of the stress.

even when all the water was in the same system they did the same thing. so i dont think its alk...and my blue wave 7 is also hqi and had ben running the same bulbs for a year now....still they look awesome!!
