I bought this a week ago and it is starting to color up. I was almost dead when I got it and now the colors are coming back. Can I get a positive id. I though Acan Echinata but I am not sure.

Also after id, can I get a placement location for this species. I am running 3 250 mh's in a standard aga 180.

Looks more like an oxypora, echinophyllia or something in the that family to me. They seem to like medium to low light and medium to low flow.

Echinophyllia or Mycedium would be my first thoughts, but its an unusual pattern. Im fairly confident it is not an Acanthastrea of any sort.
BTW, is that chocolate chip star still in the tank with it? Just fyi, theres a good chance the star may try to eat that (or any other) coral.

Yes, that is a chocolate chip star in the background and it has been in my reef for a little over three years. There are many species of choco stars and I just got lucky when I was a newbie because this guy has never ate any of my 30+ corals or 5 clams. Thanks for the id.
