Acclimating new corals to lights?

So I have a 75g with 2-250w HQI and 4 -54w T5's. I got a couple corals. Most seem to be doing fine except for my candy cane. After being halfway up in my tank for a week it started turning white. Assuming too much light is the problem, I moved the candy cane down to the bottom of the tank with no results yet. It's still feeding. Two questions.

1) Can it eventually make a comeback?

2) For this type of lighting should I acclimate all corals starting at the bottom of the tank and then slowly move them up?

Whene introducing any new stock leaving light out first day always helpful. The candy cane coral with like high light with med. flow , but will do just fine in slightly lower light also. Check for any hitchhickers ( sponges , flatworms Ect. ) that may be around.
Also check here for any preditors http://melevsreef.com/id/ .

Be sure all readings are fine from amonia to calcium . Hes eating so this is good. Ive seen coral like this come back from brink of life so GL. :)

I read somewhere that instead of starting them at the bottom and moving them up, to instead install a few layers of screen over the top of the tank between the lights and slowly remove a layer every other day or so. You can either use a screen that covers the whole tank, or cut the screen and position it over the corals that you are trying to acclimate.
