acid bath

I can't seem to find anything by using the search of actually how to give an acid bath to your rocks....only what to use.

Do you use a powerhead? Do you stir the muriatic acid with the water before you put it in?

How long do you leave your rocks in the acid bath for?

Where do you get muriatic acid?

Yes, at least here, or you can get it at a pool supply place.

I got mine at Loews. Just make sure you get some gloves rated for acid and eye protection as well. You can never be too safe.

Outside, never inside. Always add acid to water, never the reverse. That helps minimize splashing and prevents boiling.

Some large bags of baking soda used to buffer pool pH are great for neutralizing it when you're done.

And make sure to pour the neutrealized solution somewhere it won't kill the grass. Guess how I figured that little tidbit out?

Or you could use some form calcium carbonate to dissolve into the acid. That'll neutralize it too.
