ACIII and Wireless Bridge

No the ACIII will not grab an I.P. address it will use the address you program in under netsetup. The bridge will need to grab an I.P address from the DHCP server on the router to connect unless you give it a static I.P. which I had little luck doing. Look at my configuration above to see.

Got my ACIII to connect over the internet now. Too bad I have to use Excel to make my own graphs though. At least I can check on my tank when I'm at work. :D

Now go get a webcam so you can watch it too :-)

I'm working on the webcam actually! I have to convince the wife that only the tank can be seen on the internet. She doesn't want you guys watching her. LOL!

I purchased a DWL-G820, and have had a chance to do a bit of testing with it. When I first installed it, I got it working without any problems. However, I then power cycled all the equipment and tried again. This time the bridge, and the AquaController were not accessible. After a bit of banging my head on the desk, I realized that the G820 does not forward any data to the AquaController, until the AquaController first sends an outgoing packet. The G820 is not a "bridge" as it should forward arp requests, etc. to the AquaController so that it can respond.
You can confirm that this is the problem by have the AquaController send a test email from the setup->netsetup->email setup menu. If everything in the G820 is set up correctly, you should then be able to access the AquaController.
I'm going to add some code to the AquaController so that it periodically sends out a bogus packet to get around this limitation of the bridge.
BTW, another interesting quirk of this bridge is that its web configuration screens can't be accessed wirelessly. Very annoying.

THANKS!!!!

I thought I was going crazy. Now in the process of all my trouble shooting I upgraded my routers firmware. Man that is creating a headache. If I power cycle the router ping times on the wlan are 1-15 ms. As time passes the ping time gets worse up until pings till time out and ones that get through are in the 2500 range. Insane stuff.

I plan on reflashing this weekend, annd or calling D-Link again.

Curt, let me know when if you have that revision avaliable so I can upgrade the firmware.

Thanks again!!!!!!
