Acro RTN at base

I have a couple across that are RTNing at base. First is a teal stag I have already fragged the Colony. The other is a tort I noticed today. Phosphates are .03 with Hana meter. Alk is 8.2 the other day it went up to 11 in less then 24 hours. Also the corals that are RTNing are on the right side of the tank. About 2 weeks ago the ballast went out on that side of the tank it was 250w mh 20k I replaced that ballast with a 175w 14k I don't know how old the bulb was. At this point I am lost. I am going to do a 25% WC this weekend and run carbon. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The ALK swing is what is causing it most likely. ALk swings are the biggest issue when it comes to RTN and STN on Acros.

IMO it's the alk swing...too much too fast. This has been my experience anytime a colony rtns. Get your parameters steady and find out what was the cause of the alk increase.

So my Alk is stable again and I am still seeing RTN at the base. Is there any other options that I have other the trying to cut off a little frag and tossing the colony? What is the chance that I am going to lose all my acros?

in my experience, RTN from base up means nutrients were removed too fast.

like running too much GFO, or doing too much cleaning.

feed and pray seems to be the only remedy.
