Acropora losing colour under 400w Radium

Hi guys,

I have recently upgraded my lighting from a 6x80w ATI to a Giesemann Spectra 3x400w radiums with 4x 80w blue plus. The ATI was previously on for 10 hours a day.

I have the halides on for 5 hours a day to start, and since changing I have noticed some colonies losing colour and slightly browning.

I do believe this is due to a shorter light period, so what is a good length of time to run halides? Should I run them for 10 hours eventually?

I'm assuming your par is a lot more now. Raise your lights and get a par meter.

You could be shocking them with the extra light. Most start slow when they head to 400W halides and introduce them slowly. This is a LOT of light.

I would run then 8-10 hours eventually. Wait for the color to come back and then start to ramp them up.
