Acropora Yongii???

My LFS purchased all the corals from a Local clubber that had to move, and i have wanted a green Yongii that he had. When i try to research a "yongii" the only thing that shows up are green slimers. but i know its not a slimer.
it has a smoother texture, and the branches are pointed verses tubular (if that makes since)


Does anyone have a clue, or opinions?
maybe i can go by the LFS and get a picture of the colony next time im in town...

are there different "green slimers?"

im trying to find something that resembles it, but my internet is not cooperating...

slimers are A.formosa imo

I know it looks nothing like the shape of the "bali Green Slimer"
and looking through the Coral library online, the only thing that looks similar is this
Acropora austera

i hope to get a picture tomorrow, because i know a picture is worth a thousand words....

here is a local post i posted.
and the pictures are about 2 years old, so its hard to get a decent feel for what it looked like then, but maybe it will help till i get a "good" picture.

i need some help looking for the name of this coral....
these are some pictures from Jed's "moonroomstudios" thread.

In the top left 1/3 of this picture, you will see a green coral.

and here in the bottom middle, between the Red Acan and Blue Tort, there is a green coral.
Mr. A has this coral, and i always wanted some, so Kyle Fragged me a piece. (THANK YOU!!) and the name that Jed called it was a Yangii, but when i look up pictures or info, i only get "slimer" corals. and i know its not a "green Slimer" because Kyle has one behind it and there is definitely a difference. If you know what coral this is, or have a clue, feel free to post. It doesnt matter a lot, because i suck at names, but its a smoother style coral, and i just admired it, especially when it has that florescent green color....

I think you're barking up the wrong tree with the A.Yongei name. That looks nothing like the Yongei's I've seen, the pics make it look way too smooth.

yes, it is smoother.

i only say Yongei because its what the guy that had it (which was great with technical and slang names of corals) labeled it as when he broke down his tank and sold it to the LFS.
The LFS owner doesn't know what it might be, and neither do i. Thats why im trying to figure out the real name so i know, and can pass it on as well. (i contacted the Original guy, but he is doing Medical stuff trying to become a Pediatric Surgeon and is doing his residency so he is hard to get a hold of. (especially since he is thousands of miles away...))


Im going to get a picture tomorrow after my Classes, so maybe we can get some good guesses!

well, because i have no real camera, here are some cell phone pictures of the coral i am talking about. (its not as green, because its shaded by other corals... so its a little brown now but still have the green polyps.) plus, the flash kind of kills the colors

Well, i did hear back from the guy (the original owner of the corals before selling them to the LFS)

He got the coral from a fellow Med student, and he was told that indeed it is a Yongie, but the normal/common Bali green everyone sees. it was called "C's Green Acropora Yangii"

so i guess thats just what its going to stay.

Here are some updates of some of the corals that he traded in. (they were amazing, but they are still growing like wild fire.)

this Hawkins is wider then the 18" center brace in the 200gal Oceanic display

here is a Hollywood stunner that is larger then a dinner plate. (100's of eyes.....)

and here is the Bali that everyone sees. (this coral has grown and been cut up may of times, so its just recovering... but its a weed)
