I'm in the Tampa/Saint Petersburg area temporarily where I don't have the space to use a table saw to cut my 1/4" sheet. Can anyone help me out? I'd love to use someone's table saw or get some assistance cutting it. Or even pay someone to cut it. Just don't want to pay TOO much. Thank for any assistance! ~Matt

not sure where you are buying it from but HD will cut it for free for ya. biggest they carry however is 1/4inch

Chris,

A small tank. I know how to do most and this is a learning project (i.e first work with acrylic) but currently have a 33x48" sheet that I need to cut to my dimensions. From that I was going to use a router to prep the edges and continue on from there. ~Matt

Matt, I would just use the router to cut the acrylic. But if you just want to rough cut the acrylic, I would get an electric jig saw. I use one to cut my acrylic for making brackets to hang power heads on. It does fine rough cutting and actually I think it cuts smooth enough to actually use it to build a sump or tank. I always use a cutting guide and I think this really helps.

You will have to post pictures.

Good luck,
Chris

I have a question about custom acrylic tanks. Can they be made in a custom shape similar to an L shape, but not a perfect 90 degree angle? Would that kind of shape make the tank to weak to hold up?

FARCO Plastic has pretty much all the WeldOn 3,4,16 and such you might want. If I remember correctly they are off US-19 in Saint Petersburg.
