Does anyone Know of a good local shop to either get some 1/4" acrylic panels cut or to just buy something like a 4 by 8 sheet

I am building a sump and separate refugium (ill post a pic of a quick sketch i made on my thread) and I drew it all up and got a quote from a local shop here and they quoted me $450 and a couple weeks for fab time note I can buy all the materials needed for about $125 lol

That's not their website. They're a small local business off of Broadway in north Knox I believe.

If you want a 4X8 full sheet, you'd do better to call the distributor houses. SE Plastics is more of a fab shop. They can get you a sheet, cut it to your specs, build anything you want, but if you're just looking for "raw materials" you'll pay a markup buying from them.

there use to be a place next to Idle Air in North Knoxville just off the interstate. That's where I bought some weld-on last year.

Piedmont plastics, just off the Brodway exit on 640.

yep that's it. you have to pay cash i think so make sure to take some greenbacks if still except them. I'm pretty sure the Euro is our next currency.

To build my 36X16X18 sump in 1/4 or 5/16 thickness, including a divider, the materials cost were about $100 cut to my specs, but that was a few years ago. The cuts were clean and square, and gluing it up with Weld-On was a snap. They even offered to flame polish the edges when I was finished with the assembly, but I needed to put it into service so didn't take them up on their offer. They also drilled 2 holes for bulkheads for me for this price.

Gold will be the next currency I'm afraid. Hyper inflation will likely make my savings virtually worthless.

you got one hech of a deal then my sump has very similar dimensions to yours mybe just a hair bigger and they quoted me $450 + tax and a few weeks to get it

I assembled it myself, which took several hours and lots of patience, and labor is expensive, so perhaps that explains the difference.

it wouldn't be "pretty" but you could always get some glass cut and do it that way....I got a 30 gallon tank and had lowes cut me some glass to make a bubble trap and a few baffles. No one sees the sump anyway :-)
