I’m a first time acrylic sump builder. I found a manufacturer to cut some acrylic for me to sizes I specify.
The manufacture is going to charge me $50 for ¼†acrylic cut to size: (4 side pieces) 14†x 17†and (2 top and bottom pieces) 14†x 14â€Â. The manufacture said that the acrylic will be saw cut and NOT score cut.
For $140 the manufacturer will assemble the pieces using Weldon #4. I thought that $140 was steep for just welding the pieces together. The Manufacture said that the ends will not be ready to welding as is and that the ends will need to be machined prior to welding.
What do you guys think? What else will I have to do to the edges to weld them together? I think I would just have the sand the edges and remove any loose shavings from the cutting. How critical are the edges? Should I just pay them to assemble the sump?
