Acrylic Tank Builder

Are there any acrylic tank builder in the bay area? I'm running out of room in my 55 gallon acyclic tank and would like to upgrade to a bigger tank.

I'd like to find out if there are any acrylic tank builder in the bay area or could refer any online or a company that they have ordered from the past/recently.

I'm looking for an acrylic tank that is euro brace, 5 feet long, 24" high, and 24" deep.

Thanks for any referrals.

I got my tank from James at Envision Acrylics. He's based up in Oregon, but at least used to make periodic trips to the Bay Area, and was able to deliver my tank during one of his trips down. Excellent acrylic work, great price, and he was always responsive to my input (I changed the tank specs a few times prior to the build).

I got my 180g from Kritter Tanks (www.krittertanks.com). They're located in San Carlos. Gen was great to work with, delivered the tank for me and drilled all the holes I needed on site. I have a few pictures of it in my gallery.

I'm not sure what thickness the acrylic is on the tanks Truvu has listed on their site - if it's 3/8" (mine is 1/2" with a 1" top), then Kritters is cheaper. If it's 1/2", then the prices are comparable.

Man.... you haven't bought one yet - pinsan (cousing in Tagalog). I may actually buy a bigget tank before you do. LOL.

Check your email.

Try World Marine Systems in San Jose. I just got my display tank for the farmers market from them and I was very happy. They made the tank in four days. 1/2" acrylic 6'x 2'x 1' for $400. It is a very well built tank. The owner is a very nice person to work with as well.

TruVu is very reasonably price for standard tanks, but custom work is very pricey, can put a dent in the wallet.

Kritter Tanks does excellent work, but sometimes can take longer than expected, but the best finished work IMO. Their custom work prices will be better through a LFS as LFS are banking on the profit in selling accessories and livestock with the custom acrylic tank. Both my tanks were just a little more expensive than a standard TruVu, but I had it done my way.

I have visited World Maine Systems and their work is inconsistent. Some ot their finished work is just not there, but price is good for custom work.

This is just my 2 cents.

Times have changed at Tru Vu. Scott has lowerred the custom cost and now basicly price matches Kritter. Tru Vu won't do some of the things Kritter will do though.

Both do great work, I have great respect for Gen, and Scott. Both I consider to be friends, as well as suppliers :D

I have very little experience with WMS, other then I never got a call back. I've seen thier work, it looks pretty good, but definitly not TruVu or Krittter quality.

To-Arbitrate and I are going tank shopping/hunting. Are there any LFS's in the bay are that have acrylic tank displayed in their store?

I want to compare LFS's prices vs remote acrylic tank builders and pay for the shipping.

Thanks for all the great responses.

does anybody have another contact # for world marine systems in SJ? i've called several days in a row in attempts to get a quote and they're line is always busy (morning, noon and night).

A few people I know had this problem too =( not sure what's been going on lately

Going on lately? Just how long have you been dealing with them Kodan? FWIW, I tried a few years back, to the same outcome, except, when I finally got thru, a very big langauge barrier stopped all dealings with them.
