Acrylic vs Glass for photography

Hello all. I am planning to do an upgrade in about a year or so. Do to finances I will have to buy a piece at a time until I have them all.

My first concern is a tank. I would like a glass tank (for maintenance reasons) but I love the photography side of the hobby and am wondering how dramatic the difference between glass vs acrylic vs starfire is when shooting with a good camera?

Does anybody have experience with this? Possibly with examples.

I hated my acrylic tank. It made ALL of my photos fuzzy. Now having the starfire, I like it so much better.

I have been thinking about starfire the most. Is it hard to get custom sized tanks in starfire?

there have been alot of less then spectacular reviews on glasscages tanks here on RC. I would highly recommend doing a search for glasscages from the link below and reading customer experiences........lot a mixed feelings

Thanks for the heads up! i just saw them at the reptile expo and was thinking that i may get a custom tank from them? Was it the build quality that has been getting bad reviews? I was thinking of buying just glass from them and building myself a custom coffee table/ cube...

Thanks for the heads up oct2274. I think I may still go with them but I will need some assurance from them that if the tank comes in cracked they will replace it for free or I wont order from them..

Maybe check with Tong's in Fountain Valley. I am almost positive they can order custom starfire tanks and then you wouldnt need to worry about shipping.

Oceanic makes most standard sizes in starphire, I just got a 215 Starphire, nice thing is it comes with a 5year warranty... Oceanic tanks now come with a non-tempered bottom so that they can be drilled for CL systems
