I've always loved shots of corals by the light of actinics...here's one of my frogspawn...

How about sharing your own "tank by actinic" shots?

Great pics. Can ya'll share some info on how ya set your cameras? My shots always turn out way too dark. Thanks!

Nice Looking tank Jclipper , whats that above your yellow polyps?

thanks - thats a yellow sun coral in the middle actually (although there are some yellow polyps in the tank too) - directly above it is a leather coral and above that, a yellow turbinaria - there's a purple gorgonian and a yellow sea rod poking out too....

I played around with the RGB levels a bit on that shot - dropping the red channel seemed to give the most accurate results. There's an azure demoiselle in the shot (if you can find it!) - in the original the body was purple (where it should have been blue). I used that as a reference point really - it looks blue now.

I ussually adjust my white balance, I use a light blue towel that always hangs out in my stand to set the white balance. That keeps the picks from coming out crazy BLUE with little detail. No Flash, ISO400, and I go with auto on all the rest

Wow Melev! I love the way the red colors pop under the actinics! And I thought the greens/yellows looked cool!

And how could I forget my new little blassto frag...looks great under actinics...and the zoos behind don't look bad either...

And then there's my cute little ricordia (about 5/8" in diameter, but gorgeous colors)...
