Activated Carbon and LPS

I've been using ROX Carbon in my tanks for a long time. Have done my research about it and understand it's the best carbon in the market. I experienced first hand how it can strip the water from nutrients as I had some of my sps go pale with high dosages of it in a reactor. As I reduce the amount, they quickly regain color.
Now I have an LPS tank and although use way less of the product, wonder how many out there skip carbon and if they notice any positive response from their LPS in a "dirtier" tank...
I like the clarity of the water with the Carbon, but wonder if no use would yield better colors?

Interested to hear about this from an experienced aquarist. I'm fairly new to reefkeeping (about 9 months) recently I noticed some fading in my Acan Lord and Hammer. I checked off some of the usual suspects (params, pest/disease, lights) then decided to stop running my reactor with ROX carbon. It hasn't been long enough for me to give any concrete evidence but after the first week + the Acan is gaining some color and all my LPS are looking a little "perkier". For me I think I'm going to try and find a balance point between too much/too little carbon use. I suppose it would depend on the individual since we all keep different coral with different needs.
