activated carbon--does brand matter?

I was curious as to your thoughts on activated carbon--the brands and prices vary quite a bit! I have both HBH Aqua Pure activated carbon, and Seachem Seagel. I use the Seagel in my reef tank, and the HBH in my freshwater and nano tank. Thoughts on brands?

i've bought some from a local fish store and its not branded. I think they buy it in bulk so im not really sure what brand he uses. In my opinion i guess it depends on how you use it.

not that i noticed.. i did a GB for carbon here in Socal and almost all of our local reefers have been using it with no problems...

Yes! Low quality carbons will have a lot of 'junk' in them.

what is that?

Brand defniantly matters. Cheaper brands are known to leach phosphate. I went cheap one time and got the no name brand, had a terrible cyano outbreak right afterwards. Any of the higher end brands should be fine (Kent, Marineland, Seachem, etc).
