I bought live sand and live rock from an established tank (~ 200 lbs each). I put them in the tank w/ a pump and a heater for about a week and a half. Last Saturday, four days ago, I finished my plumbing, filled the tank up and started it up. My amonia, nitrites and nitrates never got that high, they did rise a little but not too bad. Now my amonia and nitrites are zero and nitrates are at 20. I new it would be a fast cycle, but wow!
Do you think it will re-cycle or am I about ready to add a couple fish? Do I need to do a water change b/f adding fish? what about snails and crabs, is there enough stuff in there for them to eat yet?
