Adding Neon dottyback

I am thinking about adding a neon dotty back to my 125. But I aklready have a royal gramma. I need opions if this would be ok.

IME dottybacks are pretty easygoing when they're small (I got mine when he was about 1.25") but become VERY agressive with age. Mine is now ~3" long and nothing short of vicious; I call him my little cobra because he waits hidden and strikes at passing fish/inverts like a snake. He's in with other fish that can hold their own (damsels, angels and a hawkfish) but still takes a bite out of one of his tankmates from time to time.
Neons are stunning fish, but they can be mean-spirited little beasts. I have a feeling the neon would have your gramma for lunch once it reached similar size, but I've never tried pairing the two so I can't really say.

Neon dottyback or orchid are fine with grammas even 2 grammas at the same time --check my gallery.

never EVER had a problem with grammas and orchid/arabian dottys together. My neon will occasional defend itself against my blue damsel ---NOW THAT FISH IS WERE THE DRAMA STARTS

just find it for the right price $25 cuz online sites want like $65 for those fish which I'll never pay. cover your tank too my first neon lasted about 6 hrs before it was MIA then I owned like 2 orchids and now keep a neon again.

but I always like the set up of a couple grammas and a dottyback together

Ironshiek is the exception to the rule. I would STRONGLY suggest against multiple dottybacks or dottybacks and similar fish.

I've never seen aggresion ---the 2 grammas would occasionally flare toward each other but never cared for the orchid ...

they say the brazillian grammas are alot meaner though, so I dont know about them

My neon dottyback got too mean when he hit about 3 inches as well, but he didn't pick on my grammas. They lived higher in the water column and he stayed low and in and out of the rocks. He beat up on the other new and small fish a lot, though, and I had to take him back, even though I liked him a lot.

Just thought I'd mention that he will deplete your tank of certain valuable inverts, if that's an issue

yeah, thats why I havent bought a mandarin for my 75 -- he's too efficient at scouring the live rock. Reminds me of those terminator flying saucers eyes are focused, maneuverable, quick darting, killer instinct I put a piece of maiden's hair live rock from my refuge into my main tank--- had featherdusters, red algae, maidan's hair, some zoas -- the neon took out 3 feather dusters in the first 1/2 hr and the emerald crabs ate everything else so now its a bare peice of rock after sitting full of life for 3 months in my refuge not too mention it cost me $30

I'd like to add inside the front cover of the newest petsolutions catalog has a pic of a tank w/ 4 Royal grammas together --
