Adjust fish list.

Okay so originally. I wanted to go with the following.

2 clowns (picasso juvies)
Purple firefish
Cardinal
Pink streaked or possum wrasse.

Lately due to some pests I have wanted to get a 4 or 6 line...as I hear they help with pests in the rocks. (I have some annoying ones I'm about to just acid bath everything lol) More so then a possum or pink streaked would. Not to mention the pink streaked is damn near impossible to find where I live been waiting on a list for 6 months.

I know I wouldn't be able to have the firefish and cardinal but if I got my clowns first and let them mature then added the wrasse is this a risk? Or should I get them all the same size and let the grow up together?

If this is a bad idea all together I will accept that.

I have a 36g DT
29g sump w/ 10g Fuge section

IMO, you will have trouble adding any fish once the clownfish mature.

I would be inclined to add your less aggressive fish first and add the clownfish pair last.

If it was my tank, I would pick the pink streaked wrasse over the possum wrasse for assistance with pest control (LA has them in stock right now...) as well as getting along-ness(?). In a tank that size, I would be very worried about having a six line wrasse. It may work out, but more often than not it does not. Is the risk worth it to you? Would you be able to remove the wrasse if there is a problem with the wrasse harassing everyone else (or in rare cases the clownfish beating up the wrasse)?

I would be concerned that the firefish would be too timid for with your other tank mate choices. IMO, I would go with a goby like a watchman or orange spotted, the pink streaked wrasse, and the clownfish pair.

Yeah that's why I suggested to not have the firefish or cardinal if I was to get the 6 line as they would be to timid of fish for something like that...

I was just wondering if there is any combination of introduction to get this to work or if it is purely hit or miss....pink streaked in LA lol....I live in BC Canada....I saw divers den had one but they don't ship to Canada...and still if they did i would be paying more then my picasso clown Juvies just for the one fish....after shipping etc....they just don't seem feasible where I live...I can ask a LFS about ordering one but even that may be way over priced.

I would be able to catch and re-home in a frag tank if necessary. As non of my rocks are secured and my main concern would be the Clowns as I will be paying a pretty penny for them....I do truly want a Pink Streaked. But at this point some things are getting out of control and aside from acid bath my rocks which would leave me with no LR I'm at a loss. I have digitate hydroids out the wazoo and was hoping it would help with them. And flatworms. I have done everything I can think of.

If I was to get the 6 line it would be just the wrasse and the 2 clowns in my tanks that's it. And there is 27lbs of LR with lots of hiding spaces....would a 4 line be any less aggressive?

List looks ok, but I have had bad experiences with the 6-Line Wrasse. They were complete jerks and in a 36gallon tank that could happen. For as the clown fish you may be ok for awhile, but once they bond and start mating, then you may have a problem. It's a possibility that they can take over that whole tank.

Okay maybe I'll just say eff it then and acid bath the rocks....when I'm paying 100 a clown really can't risk it. And I do want my clowns to breed. But can also re-home them in a tank once they mature.

My idea was to get the clowns and the wrasse the same size and raise them together but not worth the risk. Thanks for the advice guys..

I agree. Pink streaked is highly recommended.

A melanarus wrasse has been very beneficial to my frag tank. She scours everything, eats flat worms, creepy crawlies, anything that doesn't belong. I really enjoy them. They aren't personable but they earn their keep.
