Advice on modding a CPR BAK-PAK

aloha all

I have a CPR BAK-PAK with the Rio powerhead swapped out for a MaxiJet 1200 powerhead. I added the venturi mod to the MJ1200 to make it work with the BAK-PAK.

I am seeking advice/experiences people have had with modifying the CPR BAK-PAK for even more effeciency and for more optimum performance. Any ideas or recommendations?

I run a bac pac in my sump and use a aqua clear 802 with mesh mod it skims more and darker. The bacpac puts out more bubbles than i could live with in a display, the sump prevents the bubbles returning to display.

Many people have put an airstone in the bottom of the skimmer to add more bubbles.

add a gasket to the bottom of the collection cup. I just put silicone on the bottom ring so the collection cup enters snuggly. This way, the bubles have to rise into the tube instead of escaping throught the sides.

mesh mod will be the best mod for this skimmer. You may need a smaller pump to run it though otherwise you will have too much bubbles like stevebla stated above. Maybe a MJ900 or MJ600 even.
