AFGI OR GFCI Breakers?

I have a dedicated circuit to each one of my tanks in my basement. The breaker in the box that I installed was a AFGI breaker. Everything works for a year and a half or so. Got home last night and the breaker had tripped on one of my tanks. Tried resetting it but it kept tripping. So I need to run to Lowe's Depot to pick up a new one. My question is good I actually spend the extra money for an arc fault breaker or just get a ground fault? I'm assuming the breaker is bad I will find out when I put the new one in my box tonight

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Take the wire off and see if it will trip. How did you get to the conclusion that the breaker is bad?

Everytime I reset the breaker by pushing it left then right it trips. I only have two two gang Outlets on that circuit. Both Outlets are located well above the tank and are not in any danger of being splashed. To make sure it is the circuit I unplug everything from all outlets on it and reset the breaker. So nothing is plugged in. Reset the breaker and it Trips Again right away.

So considering that some of the pumps are plugged into a tank you still would not run any type of GFCI fault breaking? The outlets themselves are regular 20amp outlets. That's why I was using some type of fault breaking circuitry on it.

I don't want it tripping. GFCI's protect you from electrocution nothing else. Afci I have never seen work. I want my pumps and heaters and everything in my tank running and I don't really give a crap if I get a slight tingle if I stick my hand in the water. If and when that time comes I will figure out what is causing it and eliminate it instead of having something tripping a breaker or receptacle continuously. It is just my humble opinion but I view my tank kind of like I view my sump pump in the basement I would like it to keep running regardless if there's a ground fault.
