African blue hornets placement for optimal color

I have a small colony of african blue hornets on the sand bed of my 120 but they look more purple than blue. Green tips on the skirt with yellow circle around the center mouth. Where would be the best place to put them for optimal color. I am using 250watt 14k phoenix bulbs and 2x giessesman actinic plus. Thanks J

IME, this zoanthid likes med/high flow and high light. Many people have had colonies of ABH get fungus and/or melt because of sub-optimal conditions.

I have mine near the top of my tank under 5x54 t5 blue special/blue plus alternating and I still think they are pretty purple. I don't get much blue from them and to see it I have to be pretty close to the tank. If you want a real blue polyp get tubs, mine are very nice looking, only problem is they are very small.

I love these zoas but I have seen a zoa grow so nice and hardy just to melt in a few days then grow back then bam...melted again. I still have a few and really like them. One day I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I have heard of african blues and blue hornets but they are not the same polyps, they are two different polyps

Right. Africans are more common in the wild, making them inexpensive, but ironically more difficult to keep in captivity.

i have 5 of them....so far so good
and they do look more purple than blue (in my tank at least)
