After over a year of slow progress, things are finally starting to move with my 210G upgrade.

Here are some pics over the last year or so.

New Years Day 2010 - finally some decent pictures not taken with a phone, but still ony 33% done with the aquascape.

"Carpet Leather" anemone :) I'll leave the leather in for now but it may need to go as SPS begin to dominate. The clowns love it more than the RBTAs though.

TODO:
Plumb in 15GH fuge
raise canopy for LBs and add fans
add 10G frag tank between fuge and sump
hook up kalk stirrer
hook up CA reactor (DIY two part like crazy for now)
add two rock towers - one on the left, one in the middle
move in more old fish - yellow tang, purple tang, sailfin tang, achilles tang, hippo tang
and on and on.....

Thanks for looking!

real nice setup !

Thanks! As soon as I catch my Hippo tang out of my 110G I will add more LR from my 46B that is coming down and build the middle tower. I almost got him tonight...

I have a rectangular gallon container that I put nori strapped to rocks in. The tangs swim in and eat it. I try to slide an acryllic cover over it or lift it out, but the hippo spooks too fast. I may have to buy a trap with a string released door.

I can catch the achilles and the sailfin but the hippo spooks easier. Of course the hippo moves first though since he is the least agressive.

I should get my kalk stirrer running next week as well.

Kalk stirrer is ruinning.

CA reactor is up and running with a second chamber as well.

Custom refugia gets built today and should be in place in a week or two.

I caught some tangs finally - but not the achilles yet. So far the blue, purple and yellow are all getting along well in the 210.

I built out the middle rock tower and started on the left one. Plus there are bunch of frags scattered around form my frag tank that I am selling off while some of my higher end SPS grows out.

Pics and a video:

Oh, and I have some tunze to add to replace the modded max jets that keep jamming.

And I added a BRK doser for Mag supplementation.

Hello...I am in the process of upgrading to a 180, and saw your thread...just as reference, are your lumenbrights the large or the minis?....how far is the the bottom of the reflectors from the water line?....I ask because I have to build my own canopy and I dont want to run into heat problems........are you seeing any heat issues?

Thanks for the help

They are the minis. The recommended height is 18 inches from bulb to water. Mine are at 11 now so the spread is not as good. I am planning to raise them by making the canopy taller.

I am running 400 watt bulbs. The LBs produce so much par with 400W and that close to the water that I only run each bulb for 4 to 5 hours a day. I run them in shifts with one hour of overlap so all three are never on at the same time. I don't have heat issues that way, but I do have two Icecap fans running.

When I raise the canopy, I expect to need heaters.
