Aggressive fish

pacsailfin

I have a 75 gallon tank and the fish i have in it are a sixling wrasse (the problem fish), a clown fish, a lemon peel, a pacific sailfin tang(baby), a foxface lo, and a engineer goby and a bangai cardinal. Al the fish seem to get a long except for the sixline wrasse. He is tormenting the clown fish and the pacific sailfin that I just put in there. He has nippped at their fins. Has anyone else ever had this problem before?

I am at the point where i want to catch him and return him to the pet store for a new fish. I know they wont give me money but the life of my fish is more important.

Any ideas please let me know

I would bring him back. I have a rainbow wrasse which is in an aggressive tank I have with triggers and a big six bar angel. My old wrasse was a moon wrasse and would harass my sailfin and nip at him. Wrasses are in general aggressive, they should not be with passive fish. If you keep him throw in meaty food like krill and make sure he is feed well. He may not need to feel the need to nip. Good luck.

Sixlines are relativley peacefull wrasse's...i would almost bet your LFS sold you a 8 or 12 line wrasse by accident.sixlines are usually very mellow and docile in and out of the rocks type o fish...not chasing around tang when they are the newest addition

best thinng you can do is watch and wait...if he is still beating your fish then yes....i would retutrn him to your LFS and try to get at least some store credit.
