Aggressive Saltwater Aquariums.. Please comment

I read a billion so called aggressive tank threads but I never understand the whole saltwater aggressive idea. Honestly it sounds like most people want something really mean/tough for their tanks and what it is doesn't really seem to matter because its always the same couple fish thrown out there in the stock list. Besides a maniac Clown Trigger (and not all are tough customers), Undulated Triggers, or a monster Damsel of some sort most saltwater fish and even these pail in comparison to some of the freshwater beasts that are out there.

If you'd set that large tank up freshwater, buy 25 Umbee babies hoping for a male..(get rid of the last fish standing who will be a dominate female because you didn't get a male!! Old Umbee humor as it so hard to find a male) buy 25 more, get that male (don't worry as he will have killed the 24 others unless he finds a girlfriend), raise him to 20 inches and you will have a solo fish that will literally try and kill you at every possible instance. Honestly it will try and kill you, your dog, your family and everyone in the neighborhood and it will never back down from a fight. And a large male Umbee is probably more spectacular then just about anything you'll find.

Heck if Umbees don't float your boat buy 5 Dorado as they act probably more like a real killer shark than any shark any homeowner can keep.

Or get 200 Bucktooth tetra (OMG that would be insane) and watch the true feeding fenzy of the insanity when they rip something to shreads.

(Avoid Piranha..Except some of the super rare solo fast water piranhas they are mostly wusses.. Baiscally if they school they are wimps)

While I am not hating too hard as I also like agressive fish but mainly for the bold attitudes, not to kill other fish. I bought a Titan Triggerfish because I always heard they were some of the meaniest things you can own (I have had mine for 2 years). But I can tell you maybe they are mean "for saltwater fish" but honestly I think size for size and if both fish could go in the same water a male Auratus would kill any trigger within a day. Hell he'd probably kill one of every type of trigger in that same day.

So if you want aggressive why not save yourself some time and money, set up a freshwater tank with the knowledge you have (because most freshwater people don't know crap about keeping tanks) and you will have some truly aggressive fish that will keep your taste for the mean satisfied.

I keep salwater for my love of the corals too... and my love of the ocean, and diving with them... If I wanted aggressive killer fish sure.. Here is the bio on one of my fish: Length - 7-8", Width - 4", 13 venom spines w/2 poison glands per spine, ejects venom at same rate as a spray can, venom capable of destroying enough tissue in your body that you will die in 2 hours due to lack of oxygen to the brain. But, its a calm fish, and id have to ram my hand in to it to do any damage, it can swallow food the length of its body with the help of its multiple jaw setup, ask the harlequin tusk it swallowed whole. It hides as often as it can, and if I decided to kill it by taking it out of the water, ill be waiting up to 48hours for it to die... I call it Darwin, others call it a stonefish. I love this fish and everything about it cause it knows how to survive, and best of all, I can go diving with them in the ocean and see them in the wild (If I can find them)

I think most people on here will tell you its not really the carnage we are after, we could raise pigs if we wanted that. Its more the love of the species and the Ocean.
