So gdubs and I bought some Berghia Nudibraches 6-7 weeks ago. I got about 6-7 and threw 4 in my DT and the remaining 3 in a 10 gallon to see if they would lay eggs and possibly hatch.
The aiptasia in the display disappeared very slowly... At first, a few were gone in the area I put them...then it seemed like there wasn't much of a dent for at least 2-3 weeks. About 3-4 weeks in, I started to visibly see a reduction day by day.
Well...fast fwd to today and my DT is now completely eradicated from Aiptasia...not one can be found and I had them everywhere. Rocks, sand, overflow...you name it. They took them all out...I probably had a few hundred in there and I'm guessing the berghia had babies since I sometimes see smaller ones out or floating around and I just suck them up and throw them in the 10 gallon.
Furthermore, the ones I originally threw in the 10 gallon (I was feeding them aiptasia plucked from the sand) laid many eggs and I have a few babies. Not really sure how many though since they are so tiny.
But here's the issue....I have no more aiptasia to feed them (well, not an issue for me...but for them). My guess is that there are probably about 5 in there that could be transferred to another DT now...but the others need Aiptasia to grow until they are at least 1/4 inch in length whey they would be strong enough to go back into a reef tank.
So...does anyone have any aiptasia in their sand or on plugs or very small rock rubble they can easily get and pass them on to me.
If you have an Aiptasia issue and are a member of ARK in good standing, let me know and I'll try to hook you up.
If you are not a member of ARK, PM me anyway and we can work something out.
