Anyone have any peppermint shrimp or berghia for sale/trade? Aiptasia is taking over my tank, and the Joe's Juice just makes it worse!

Thanks in advance!

Make sure they are Peppermints and not just called Peppermints. That's the problem many have with the inconsistency "Peppermints" eating Aiptasia. I forget the scientific name for them but there is a sticky on Reefcentral with the info.

'Peppermint Shrimp' is "lysmata" something. The similar one is 'Camel Shrimp', R. durbanensis, which you do see sold as 'Peppermint Shrimp'.

I did the vinegar in the past, along with Kalk, and Calcium Chloride?? I think, doesn't work all the time, and of course there's always the ones hidden away from reach. Plus I'm now scared of my fishes swimming erractically and into the needle I'm holding. It could be ugly. That's a problem with fearless/friendly fishes, they get close but can be spoked easily as well.

Aiptasia update!

Aiptasia update!

Thanks for the Park Ridge info - that's a GREAT shop! Plus, they have a 7 day guarantee, which I've never known a fish shop to have!

I originally bought three berghias from the St. Louis company that sells them (I think it was saltyunderground), but I'm not sure they're even still alive. After four weeks, the Aptasia continued to get worse on a daily basis.

Now I have six (I believe) peppermint shrimp in the tank (I know they eat berghia), and I hope at least a few of them are the aiptasia-eating shrimp, and that at least ONE of them starts eating Aiptasia!

I called another berghia shop in Texas, and the guy who owns it told me that you can train the peppermint shrimp to dine on Aiptasia if you, two hours after lights-out, use an eye-dropper and place some mysis shrimp in the eye of the aiptasia. The peppermint can learn to eat the aiptasia that way.

Anyone else have any true Aiptasia success? Thanks!

I had some and put a peppermint in my 20 and within a couple weeks that aptesia was gone and I mean gone I have transfered the rock to my 55 and I no longer have a peppermint and have not seen even one.
