Aiptasia eaters; Triggers

I plan on trying a bluejaw trigger in my reef here in a few months, I hear good things about them, I need to do more research first though.

I have hear of pink tail, blue jaw, crosshatch and humu humu/ pacosso triggers in reefs. I dont think any of these fish will eat corals, but small fish and inverts might be on the menu.

I have kept most of the Xanthychytihs triggers in my reefs and they have all been fine with corals, fish and inverts. You can have issues with other triggers.

Most of the butterflies will destroy aips, but they will destroy your reef tank too. Peppermint shrimp will get them eaten.

Humus and picassos will likely go after corals.

Nigers are one of the most reef-safe after the X-genus.

xanthichthys ringens- sargassum triggerfish would fit in that 90g and are reef safe. also i would use a copperband butterfly for the aiptasia

I would use a doll head to grow aiptasias.

I highly reccommend the Sargassum if you can get hold of one, Bluethroat is a good one also either is borderline in a 90 gallon, but I think ok...I would avoid doing a Niger in a 90 as they get much larger.

Well, after seeing the price tag on the Sargassum Triggers, I think I will go with a Blue Cheek Triggerfish.
Any other thoughts on the Blue cheeks?
Will they be ok with a couple of Tricidnae clams, feather dusters, coral banded shrimp, peppermint shrimp, and an array of snails and hermits?

Depending on the size of the fish and the size of the shrimp, the Bluethroat may make a meal of your shrimp. People keep them with shrimp, but its definatly a risk

The coral band is about 3 in and the peppermints are 2 in a piece.
If I am looking for a 4 in Blue cheek trigger, will I be able to tell the difference between males and females at that size?

Aiptasia

Aiptasia

How about a Bicolor Angelfish for aiptasia control. I know they are not perfectly safe but mine doesn't hurt anything and definitely eats aiptasia.
