I have these things in my 75 reef and it seems they are ggetting outta control...I have tried Joes juice to find it works for just a week or so then they come back...Now Im doing the peppermint shrimp I have about 10 of them...the question is "what works"?

I have alot of sps and they are getting on them causing issues?
Thanks In advance Joe

peppermint shrimp took care of mine overnight. i only had about 2-3 dozen in my 75, but 2 peppermints wiped it out.

i've heard copper banded butterfly's eat them too

ive had very good luck with joes juice , i have wrasses so the pep shrimp are only food ! you have to be carefull to get the juice into the center so they ingest it if you get the nack of it ,it works great . you cant just sprinkle it on the aptasia or it will not work it MUST go from the syringe into the mouth and thats the very center of it . if they dont get a good shot of it you will experience exactly what you explained , they will come back bacause you only "wounded" it . they are definately survivors and will take persiverance to rid your tank of them . dont give up and dont put any salt water at all into the juice or it will gell up and clog the syringe .good luck keep at it and do not give up !

oh yea once you get it into the center push into it deeply ,right down to the rock and then give em a little shot ! turn off all circ pumps etc also!

I tryed joe's juice, it only injured them, then they came back. I really hate to put chemicals in my tank unnessesarily.
Hendersonracing-Wow 10 peppermint shrimp is a lot, you could have gotten by with half as many. Once the aiptasia are gone you're gonna have to feed them.

Peppermint shrimp. Try hot water with a syringe and kalkwasser. Also, try removing some of the rocks and scrubbing with a tooth brush.

you can try white vineger with a syringe.
That kills them for sure.
Pep shrimp I believe won't touch them in a well fed tank.

Thanks everyone. I can't take the rock out they are covered with sps & other coral...I've been using Kalkwesser & water putting it in the microwave to a nice boil! But like a few have said it only is temporary for some reason.Ive had the shrimp a few days but still don't see them eating any yet? I guess I'll give it time. what fish will help? and not nip at my coral?

I had a large group of pepermints in my tank, about ten in a 55. not only did they take care of the problem in my display, but they also made their way into the sump. I believe all are wiped out. you can cet 5 for 20$ saltwaterfish.com.

They are coming back after the treatments because a portion of the foot has survived intact. To completely eradicate them, try injecting them and then pluck them or scrape the remains of the foot off of the rock. As long as you leave some behind they're going to come back. Lemon juice, vinegar and kalkwasser all work equally as well and are far cheaper than Joe's Juice, Aiptasia X or the other name brand chemicals.

sometimes you can find bergia nudis, and they eat aptasia. there are some shops that raise them. they are a little pricey though, and they can be hard to aclimate. there is a shop called inland aquatics in west indiana that usually has them and will ship.
