i have little air bubbles growing out of my algae....its coming from the algae on the rocks, the glass, and the macro...cuz its all in a fuge...could this just be the gas exchange or is it some certain kind of algae? Everything is fine with water this just happens from time to time...i was wondering if something would control it...maybe emerald crab?

Did you ever figure out the air bubbles? I have the same problem. Kind of dark scummy algae growing on the surface of the refugium and its imbedded with air bubbles. Almost like that bubble wrap you use in packing. I increased the water flow but it hasn't gotten better, possibly worse.

I have had a battle with bubble algae. I had a 90gallon with it and changed it over to a 150. I had cleaned off most . I have plenty of water flow and a great skimmer. It is not growing anymore. But how can I get the rest cleaned up with our doing it by hand? I have no hair algae at all and run phospahte remover.

It's probably just giving off oxygen, I wouldn't worry.
