Air bubbles on the rocks....why?

Well, I have a mixed tank with about 50% SPS.

However, I have found that my sps are not doing well.

Also, I have also noticed that there are a lot of air bubbles on the rocks about mid day. Early in the morning, I see no bubbles at all. It is strange that as the day go by, air bubbles start to appear all over the rocks and over box.

Could this be due to some elements in the water/gravel/sand that is creating these bubbles?

My tank has been set up for 1 year.

I agree, cyano could be the culprit... get your baster and suck it off and see what you get... if it's slimmy stuff you see most likely cyano, get it before it gets out of control... it is photosynthetic & not a true algae but bacteria...that's why you see it during the day, not at night.

I also find that cyano can be indicative of high Phosphates. PO4 can also lead to sps browning.

Good luck....Joshua
