Hello, I am new to this site and am interested in joining the Alabama Reef club. The only problem is that I see the next meeting is in Decatur, and I live in Auburn. Does this club always meet in Decatur, I checked to see if maybe there was a club closer to Auburn in GA, but the ATL club seems pretty dead compared to this one.....I would like to attend a meeting but it seems as if I am just in the wrong location for it.

Hi, and welcome. You are reffering to NARC which is north Alabama reef club. There is also a group called CARC or central Alabama reef club. Last month these 2 groups met jointly in birmingham area. There may be a group down closer to Montgomery or maybe over in Columbus but i am not sure.

I'm sure that if there was awareness about a club in Auburn than something would happen. There are 3 pet stores that I go to all in a close area. Everytime I go to one there is someone else purchasing stuff for a saltwater tank. Maybe we should try and get something together, form a new club. The EAR club(East Alabama Reef), or something like that. Let me know what you think about it. Maybe call it FEAR, For East Alabama Reefers.

How are the stores out in that area? I've only been to the two here in town... One is exclusively salt, but can be pricy... Decent selection, just not of what I'm loking for

I'd be glad to do whatever to help get something going. I miss meetings like we had in MTRC... It's nice seeing all the different set ups (so people can see it can work some way other then the LFS said it could) and to see the same corals in different set ups. It usually ended up being a 4 hour social with reef geeks sitting around talking about old reefing wounds.

East Alabama Reef Club is in Oxford, Al (Anniston area) I haven't been able to make a meeting yet, hopefully there will be another one next month. Good luck finding a club .
