nice to see an actual forum for the state.
where is everyone located at?
i live in the s.e part of the state between enterprise and elba

Whats the closet or regular lfs you guys visit? i have to go 100 miles north or south for a good one.

Birmingham for corals, small pet store here in Jasper only has a couple of tanks of saltwater, but she gets in good stock at times and has always ordered anything I ask for.

the best store here in the huntsville area is Coral Reef Aquatics hands down, its actually in athens, very helpful and all around great people and very good selection both dry goods and live stock.

i think montgomery has the best selection for corals and dry goods around here. i think there is a store in prattville but have not checked it out.

IMHO, the Prattville store is pretty bad. Not worth going out of your way for. If you are already headed to something like the new Bass Pro Shop, then it's the next exit up I-65. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

I humbly agree, although the owner is a super nice guy, his main store focus is not on saltwater systems.

The most stocked reef store in Montgomery has good a supply at "fair" prices but the owner, well, I am sure its no secret on him or his antics.

Hoover, I have 3 LFS (That I know about) in a 10 mile radius. However, the majority of my purchases (Corals, not fish) have been online.

Petsville is the one you're talking about. The owner has done a lot for me on rocks, tanks, etc. Really enjoy doing business with him.

God bless,
Basset

There are not too many of us here in LA until you get over to the Mobile area. They have a pretty good site (mbrk.com). I stay pretty active on the Florida Panhandle Reefkeepers forum. They are closer to me with most of them in the Crestview Pensacola area. :strooper:

What's the name of that place on Bowl Weevil Circle behind the chinese restaurant in Enterprise?

I bought a 20 H from her not too long ago. Saltwater livestock didn't look too good but seemed to have a pretty wide variety of cichlids and some awesome birds.

God bless,
Basset

you are talk about pet stop. well it has changed name a few times. when i walk into a lfs and ich drops are sitting by the tanks i don't buy anything. they have alot of fw fish , birds and snakes.

Hey Griffin

ahhhh good Ole Jim, i thought he as a bit of an oddball to start with but after you get to know him (and ignore his ways) he's an OK guy and will cut you some pretty nice deals. i haven't been in since they swapped to the front store but i may have to go check it out this weekend with SDiver there if he wants to pay for the gas :)

TheGriffin...........i'm pretty sure that's the guy who came and got some LS when i took the 180 down a few yrs ago, of course my memory isn't as good as it used to be

Yep. Used it for a DSB in the 110 one I got it up and running :)

I am in Oxford, Alabama. I am new to reef-keeping having only started my 49g tank in March of this year. I was fortunate enough to have picked a very good lfs with folks who actually have a clue as to what they are talking about. Both Shawn and Kathy @ Valley Tropical Fish have been a big help to me!!! I know it has to get old answering a lot of the same questions, but they both are quite patient. There are actually several other stores in the area, however neither come close to Valley, not by a long shot!
