alage on my sps

One of my acropora is getting a little hair algae on it. I gently blow it off but it continually comes back. It still has tissue on the part where the algae is growing but I have never seen this before. Is this a problem? Thanks for your help.

sounds like you need more flow.

What are you running circulation wise?

3 tunze 6100's plus 4 outflows of 300 gph each = total flow of around 10,000 +- gallons per hour on a 180 gallon.

If it's close to the tip, just clip it off.

I would clip it off. IMO, hair algae shouldn't grow on a healthy acro.

unfortunatly its at the bottom of the coral.

I've taken a soft bristle toothbrush before to clean algae off a bald spot. Seems to work - just be gentle.
