Well, the Alaskan part doesnt matter much, as these objects look the same from all over the world But we do have some nice dark skies!
This is the Pleiades. If you believe in the Bible, the Kesil constellation is mentioned, most scholars feel that the Kesil = the Pleiades as the modern day name.
This is the Crescent Nebula. Again, if you're a Bible reader, then this is kind of cool because it is about 5000 light years away, meaning the light my camera captured was emitted from this nebula around the time Adam died...
These next two are taken in narrowband. I have special filters in place which only allow light in a very specific wavelength to pass through. In this case, I used the hydrogen alpha filter, which allows 656nm wavelength to pass, which is the light emitted from excited hydrogen atoms that a star is interacting with in space.
This is the Pacman nebula, which is about 9500 light years away.
And then the Jellyfish nebula (can you tell where it gets its name?) which is about 5000 light years away, like the Crescent.
At some point, I'll take frames for oxygen and sulphur of those two narrowband images, and can make a composite color image, but that will depend on the clouds and timing So for now they are just monochrome, but I'm a pretty big fan of it, I like the look. I plan on printing the Jellyfish in metal and hanging it on my wall in my office.
