algae advice

So i was on vacation for the past week. I had someone taking care of the tank in the sense of turning off the lights, turning them on, feeding, and doing the weekly water change. Everything looks good just a lot of algae growth...like a lot, Just wondering how you guys would go about this to try to clean it out/prevent it. I was thinking a sand sifting goby may help as its a sand bed, but i'd like some more experienced input before i add anything

That is not algae but cyanobacteria (red slime). There are many ways to deal with it, one of the most common is to manually remove as much as possible and then go without lights for three days. You can look up a couple of threads to get specifics.
