Thanks. I was thinking the same thing. As I am watching the older growth, it is becoming more solidly colored, losing the white specks. Getting a little darker pink. I had taken that piece of rock approximately one month ago and scraped it with a knife, seeding the aquarium with coralline. It was almost white (bare rock) when I got thru with it. The picture that I posted was taken last week and shows all the new growth on it. After this seeding, Coralline is beginning to grow more on the tank glass and fixtures (power heads, tubing, etc...) and other rocks. But I was surprised to see it grow in plated like that with the specks in it. I was hoping I didn't make other unwanted algae grow as it is spreading very fast on that rock. Thanks for your input.
