algae on monty cap

For 2 weeks I noticed algae growing on this monty. I don't know why algae took hold there but since it's surrounded by healthy coral, CUC can't get to it. Would you scrape it off or will that be worse?

I get that when the cap grows in front of the powerhead. Too much flow hitting it.
Move the powerhead or frag the cap.

I have the same thing on mine. I just pulled it off by hand, with no problems. I wish the cleanup crew would get it, but they seem to ignore it on the cap, while eating it elsewhere.

Thank you, it is right in front of one of the oceans motions nozzles, although it never had a problem there before, it has probably grown enough to be taking a direct hit of flow.

I fragged off the affected area to get rid of the monty eating nudis. I don't want to take any chances, I have 6 varieties of montipora in my tank

Mine gets like that with to much flow. Just readjust the flow and frag the small part of is what I do.
