algae on orange sponge

i had the sponge for over two months now and it was bright orange..but now its got algae all over it...i have it on the bottom and with good flow too...i blow off debris off it just to make sure nothing settles on it...the sponge is doing good except for the algae..is there a way to get color back...

This should probably be posted in other inverts, but there are some sponges that are not harmed by algae growing on them. I have read that the yellow/orange spherical one in the trade are not harmed by algae on their surface.

I think it is likely that if a sponge is not able to produce anti-fouling defenses against algae it is probably found exclusively in very low light environments. I would place the sponge in a cave or similar to block light.
