Algae or hydroid?

I have a bunch of these growing in one of my tanks and I'm trying to figure out if they are some kind of hydroid or just algae.
They are very small (1/8"), soft, branching growth.

It's a kind of coraline algae that grows up in branches instead of flat along things, I believe.

Thanks, that's good news...wasn't expecting that answer!
It seems to like shaded areas where the red/maroon colored coraline grow and not on the light exposed purple algae.
