algae overgrowth

Help!!! I am babysitting my son's 55 gallon saltwater tank for about 3 months. I have been having a problem with algae growth. He has an anemone and a couple of coral. He has a clown fish, damsel fish, blennie, chromis, a sand sifting and tiger striped star fish, a sea cucumber, a crab, several hermit crabs, and several different kind of snails. When I check the chemicals everything comes out OK. Any suggestions on what I should do now. I've cleaned out the big filter and clean out the protein skimmer every 2 days.
