ALIVE rock!

OKay, this sounds completely crazy, but my live rock is ALIVE! Seriously, it opens and closes. When it is open, it has soft tissue that opens and you can see inside it and it has like soft teeth in there. The outside of the "rock" looks much like a clam with the ruff texture, but then it continues and atatches to a rock. Can someone please tell me what this think is? I am thinking something like a clam or an oyster maybe? It can be startled like my clam and will close quickly also.

I'll bet you have aquacultured rock. I got a piece from Jomars once and after a day or two a mussel fell off the rock and crawled across the tank bottom. Weird.

this thing has a mouth that is about 1 inch wide, and when it is open you can see a couple inches inside the "rock" but when the things moves to open and close, the whole thing that is largen than the size of a golf ball, moves to shut and open it. The really weird thing is that inside the mouth are almost teeth things, kinda like shark teeth, but they look as though they may be soft tissue. Hmmm, strange huh. OH, also on the rock are some very pretty green things, like a stony coral, or like a candy cane coral.

Tell me you don't have a flame scallop Bgginers, unless you have a fuge those guys usually dont last more than 6 months.

I would say its a type of rock boring clam, I have seen them as wide as 4-5 inches, and no those aren't teeth.

thats what i am thinking it is too. i know they arent teeth, they have the appearence of teeth, but are soft tissue.
