alk. problems

shouldn't need to supplement alk. Once you get the reactor dialed in Ca and Alk should be fine. Ph is the one you need to watch apparentlyas the reactor can cause it to drop.

Some people do the Kalkwasser drip to raise PH and it helps with the alk. I do a baking soda drip to bring alk and ph up...

my cal. stays around 500 ppm but the alk keeps dropping,in 1 week the alk. went from 9.0 to 6.4 with no addition of buffer.

The media is ARM I believe looks like little sticks, BPM is hard to tell doesn't bubble all the time, I turned down the drip rate since the calcium was over 500 ppm so it's about one drip every ten seconds just did this last night.

Can baking soda and kalk be combined and dripped together?

I doubt that that is a good Idea. But my understanding is that if you add vinegar to the Kalk you increase the amount the kalk powder that can dissolve in the same about of water. Doing so will drive the PH of Kalkwasser down but it will be more potent too.

See Randy's article about it
Vinegar And Limewater To Boost Limewater Potency the section of the article I'm talking about is somewhere about middle.
