alk swings ****ing off the corals and me

Concentrate on getting alk stable first, find your daily demand. I would stick with one brand or mix. Test today your value, then test tomorrow, from the difference will tell you roughly what your daily consumption is, now this should be done on a 5-7 day scale to even it out but you may have high demand so not dosing for five days may throw the alk too much. Also dose cal and mag but don't concentrate on getting there numbers right till you have alk right. Once you dose alk, test after 3 days, did your dose increase or did your alk decrease still, make the changes to your amount of dose slowly. You can use the online calculators but I've found they are really only a good starting point, use your test kits values to slowly increase or decrease the dosage. I test biweekly and am constantly increasing or decreasing dosage but its small changes. I've been through an alk swing and it took about a week or two to get it level off, problem for me was I switched to a different alk product and also stopped using gfo/rowaphos. Good luck

Chris, if you have everything for your CaRX but the reg, I have a Milwaukee regulator you can use for a month or two. It would give you an opportunity to try the Calcium Rx if that is the only thing holding you back. Personally, I would pick a lower number like 7.5-8.5 and zero in on getting Alk Stable like Pedro states above.

Anyway, if you want to borrow my CaRx reg, your more than welcome.
