well i have my new alka test from salifer thanks to my freand pat at reef live i came home test my alkal and i tell you is trow the rooooof what can i do i have done 4 water changes in 2 weecks what ells can i do

how about if i change 80% or 90% of the water with sea water is that going to do beter any opinions thanks

manny

hey manny, i think doing that big of a water change doesnt look too good, your prob better off doing 1-2 smaller water changes, maybe 40%.

a 50% water change with NSW id think would drop your alk to around 10-11

man i am getting really mad i don't understand this you know what i am thinking lol the test is so complicated is hard to understand i have the salifert test does any one wants to give me a crash curse i really will appreciated

Manny stop dosing Kalk for a couple of weeks.....And I agree with
Jaymie...do small water changes

ok i haven't stop the kalk because i remember roger telling me to stop the calcium reactor not the kalk so wht ells can i do shoult i stop everi dosing in my tank i tink i will

I woudlnt jump the gun yet till you find out if the reading is correct. Wish I lived a little closer I would help you with the test kit...The instrutions are pretty simple

hey you go to talking reef to my tank is one of the selected for tank of the month lol vote for me

btw

i am dounlowding tha pot cats now to rob call me and told me abou it

manny, if your alk is high and you are using a kalk reactor and calcium reactor then stop the kalk reactor for a bit. The calcium reactor will lower the alk for u because of the co2.

thanks all for the help i will discnect my kalk for some time and i just did one more test now my alkalinity is on the litel serynge go all the way to 0.00 on the alk is 5.71 i have to multiply by 5.7 wich is 5.7 how hi is that

5.71 meq/l X 2.8 = 15.98 dKH.

Unless you are seeing livestock super stressed or something dying in the tank, don't flip out about it Manny. Take it easy and SLOWLY correct it. Keep in mind, sudden changes can offset and kill things in the tank... it can cause bacteria to die off and crash the tank.

My ALK was a little high a few weeks ago, around 14dKH or so but that was due to an overdose on Kalkwasser. None of my corals or fishes showed any problems, so I slowly corrected it. I stopped dripping kalkwasser and did a waterchange a few days later or maybe it was next day.

If you really need help, I can possibly help you Friday night. LMK, call me or PM and maybe I can help u from there.

eric 2 of my corals die really fast one of them was my birstnest i to off my kalk reactor off line because i tink i was overdose to all from my skimmer and a snail lol in the returne pipe i will do more water changes but i will be moving soon ones more what i will do is change a 100% to sea water agen and i am tinking on replacing my sand bed

reefsahoy i have tow difrent test kits and they both agreed of the same reading
